Entry: Is Your Tissue Getting Enough Oxygen? Aug 21, 2008

Uh oh, here's a worry. An L.A. Times article has warned those of us who are not getting enough sex that if you don't use it, you could lose it. As if there isn't enough pressure already!

A study in Finland covering 1000 men aged between 50 to 75 asking about the quality of their erections and the frequency they had intercourse. Five years later they came back and asked them about their general health - including any problems they may be having in the downstairs department.

The results supported the use-it-or-lose-it theory. Engaging in sex once a week halved men's chances of developing erectile dysfunction. The researchers ensured that other contributing health issues did not explain the differences in the results.

The story goes on to stress the importance of getting blood flow into the corpora cavernosa. Tissue, it says, penile tissue included, likes getting oxygen into it and the more often blood reaches tissue, the more oxygenated and healthy it becomes. The question, then arises, does oxygen-deprivation have something to do with the loss of erectile function.

Fascinating stuff, and there's so much more to the LA Times story. I suggest you go ahead and read it and remember...practice, practice, practice.
