Observing Artificial Grass Growth
Artificial grass was originally designed as an alternative sports field surface to replace natural grass in situations where it was difficult to maintain. In particular, indoor sporting arenas benefit greatly from the synthetic covering, but increasingly, outdoor arenas are being converted. Although it fails to meet the natural grass look, it is a stronger, more durable alternative to the real thing. The most famous early use of artificial grass is the stadium named after the brand of artificial grass that covers it, the Astrodome in Houston, Texas where it was laid in 1965. Synthetic grass has, on the other hand, more and more gained fame for private lawns these days.
The popularity of playing on artificial grass has grown both with the players and the spectators due mainly to the grass-like way in which synthetic grass responds coupled with the more certain footing it provides. Further progress both in the manufacture and the aesthetic qualities have continued to be made leading to it being used in other outdoor areas replacing higher maintenance real grass.
The look of synthetic grass has now started to expand its use beyond just the sporting arenas and is increasingly being used by homeowners to replace turf and lawns. Homeowners who have despaired of being able to grow grass due to the unsuitable soil or weather conditions are now able to make use of artificial grass to attain the look of a rich verdant lawn year round.
There are other personal and environmental advantages to the use of artificial grass and there are many reputable artificial grass installers now available to lay it for you. There will obviously always be a need for the real thing but there is also a strong case to be made for the creep of artificial grass into our home backyards.
